June 2019 Update

At the Commission’s meeting on June 18-19 (see agenda), the following items were discussed:

  • the Senior Planner’s report
  • administrative matters
  • an overview of the Resource Assessment Report (in draft)
  • public engagement and communications
  • issues and interests, as presented by the Parties: Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in and Yukon Government
  • a review of Land Management Units and other plan concepts contemplated by the previous Commission
  • a review of the Commission’s Vision Statement

The Commission adopted their Policies and Procedures document and the minutes for meeting #1.

The day after the meeting, the Commission and some staff toured much of the region by air. Their first excursion took them north to Tombstone Park then the Tatonduk River, then back up the Yukon River via the 40 Mile town-site and Clinton Creek. Their second excursion took them south to the mouth of the White River, then to Coffee Creek, then back via the Indian River Valley and the Goldfields.
