Changing approaches…

As with everyone, the Commission continues to work out the details of how to proceed in these unprecedented times. With full support from the Yukon Land Use Planning Council and Commission members, staff continue to work from home, and are balancing the need to prioritize their families while remaining active in their planning roles.

The Commission regrets that the public portion of their April meeting had to be postponed. We had worked closely with the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Land Stewardship Framework Program to co-host this session, and we were very excited for the opportunity to hear from members of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in community on their values and interests. We acknowledge that until this session can be held, we are limited in our ability to fully consider the full scope of planning issues in the Dawson region. As such, Commission members and staff continue to work closely on other aspects of the land use planning process, and continue to explore options to host virtual meetings open to the public. As always, we remain dedicated to bringing you along with us as we work towards achieving our objectives.

In order to keep the public informed and interested, we will be providing more regular updates through our online avenues, including our Facebook page, website, and to your email if you have provided it to us. While we are limited in our capacity to fully engage at this time, we are also exploring new surveys or polls on our engagement website focused on communicating key items with you. Please stay tuned. Above all, we ask for your patience as we work through this challenging time. Please know that we are working hard to communicate with you, as much as we can, in a way that works best for everyone.
