How the Plan Was Created
- The Dawson Regional Planning Commission is responsible for preparing land use plans under Chapter 11 of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Final Agreement.
- The Commission reviewed all modifications submitted by the Parties in response to the 2022 Recommended Plan and considered how those modifications would strengthen the balance between land stewardship, cultural continuity, and sustainable development.
- The Final Recommended Plan reflects:
- Technical input and knowledge from both Parties
- Community perspectives and local priorities
- The Commission’s responsibility to consider both regional and long-term impacts
- The guiding vision that decisions must meet the needs of the land and the whole community
- The Final Recommended Plan represents the Commission fulfilling their Final Agreement obligations with respect to Plan development under Chapter 11. The Parties will now consider the Plan and determine their next steps as outlined in the land claim process.
